Pillsbury Rolls As Seven Rivers Christian Reaches 2A-3 Finals
Parker Pillsbury was his usual self on the mound and the Warriors offense was equally potent on Wednesday, as Seven Rivers Christian stormed to an 11- win over Sarasota Christian in a Class 2A Regional Semifinal. Pillsbury went the distance on the mound and his batters pounded out 14 hits in support of him to advance the team to a regional championship meeting with Seacrest Country Day on Tuesday.
The Stingrays (17-9) defeated Keswick Christian 5-1 on the other side of the playoff bracket. Seacrest Country Day has defeated the Warriors in the playoffs each of the past two seasons to end their playoff runs.
With Parker Pillsbury on the mound, the Warriors (18-6) should like their chances against anyone. The left-hander was in control throughout, allowing an unearned run on three hits and a walk, while also hitting two batters. He struck out 12 and also scored a pair of runs while going 2-for-3 to do his part with the bat.
The Blazers (8-13) jumped out with an early lead in the top of the first inning. Kyle Crowley had an RBI single that scored Grady Martin for the 1-0 advantage, but it was all Seven Rivers Christian after that.
Nearly every hitter in the starting lineup reached base, and all contributed to the victory. Caleb Wharton led the way for the Warriors by going 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Westen Kinnard and CJ Bianco each had three hits and combined for three runs and three RBIS, and Coy Phillips went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs.
Carson Pillsbury was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Zavier Delgado was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run.
