Vanguard Cruises To Victory Over West Port In Season Opener

The Vanguard Knights enjoyed a solid start to the 2017 Baseball season with an 11-1 victory over West Port on Monday. The Knights never trailed in the game and the offense was spread out over the entire team with seven of the starting nine players recording at least one hit.

Vanguard jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Dylan Grosso scored thanks to an RBI single from Jack Thompson, the first of Thompson’s three RBI’s on the night. Dawson Bland, Dylan Grosso and Jack Thompson had two hits each for the Knights.

Vanguard sealed the win by scoring seven runs in the fifth inning to shorten the game. McKeon Deon earned the win, going three innings while giving up a run and a hit, and striking out two.

Dylan Heck went 2-for-2 for West Port, and the Wolf Pack (0-1) also recorded six walks throughout the five innings.
